We're getting a little routine going here

life is getting a little more normal.  mark has his therapy set in the mornings on monday, wednesday and friday. on tuesday and thursdays we are doing some easy hiking or going to the gym, having lunch with friends or doing other things at home. some of the things he is doing now that he is home is playing the piano, checking his email, making little spreadsheets on the computer, folding clothes, unloading the dishwasher. today he did his first cooking by making some fresh salsa. it took him a while but he picked it up again quickly and it tasted really good.

he is getting stronger but his balance is still shakey. he has complained of his feet aching so i've tried massaging them but they are hurting more and more and the toes on his right foot and becoming more and more tense. there is a constant message from his brain telling his toes on the right foot to curl up in a clenched position and it seems the more walking he is doing the worse it is getting. we are going to try and get him some orthotics that have some pressure points in them and see if that helps. the physical therapist said she had another patient with this issue and it helped her so i am all for trying it. the curled toe action is making it difficult for him to walk normally and balance correctly so we hope we can solve it quickly to keep his motivation and progress going.

we had a nice sunday. while my dad was here he helped us clean up the yard and set up the hammock so yesterday after church we had a little BBQ and mark enjoyed a long nap in the hammock followed by my dad napping and then my mom. it was such beautiful weather and so fun to sit out and visit while the chickens ran around the yard.  i love spring!
